And there went the landmine, Jason thought with a blank expression. He felt like he’d been punched in the gut, the explanation stung much more than he thought it would. He nodded. “It’s my fault,” he whispered trying to force himself to smile. “I understand, it’s cool.” He told her trying to keep the smile on his face and keep his composer. Jason couldn’t be angry at her, he was the one who turned her down when she showed interest. He was the one who ran off and came back 6 months later thinking everything would be peachy. He quietly cursed himself as he moved to crawl under the covers of the bed. He didn’t know if Allison would choose to follow behind him or sleep in another room. |
Jason half closed the door to his room, leaving enough room for George to come and go freely. He stood there for a moment watching her closely as she stammered out a half sentence before walking over to him. He was caught off guard by the kiss. Jesus, what the hell was going on? When she pulled away he groaned softly. “No, we’re not even.” He countered, glancing around the room to avoid her gaze. “Do you want me or not?” He questioned looking right at her face now. He wasn’t about to play games with her, she needed to make up her mind. He wasn’t going to force her to, he had no idea what the hell was going on in her head or her love life. He stood there for a long moment, “because I want you.” He whispered softly looking over to the bed. He realized that tonight when he found out she was willing to take her life to save someone else, he knew then that what he felt for her wasn’t just some weird flirting, he was genuinely interested in Allison. He was terrified of what would happen next, did he say too much? This whole situation was fucked beyond believe and Jason couldn’t tell what was solid ground or a landmine waiting to blow. |
“I’m a major whimp then.” He confessed with a yawn. “Nope,” he said crawling out of the bed. He walked over to the door and called George in with a couple clicks of his tongue. “You staying in here or?” He asked walking back over to the edge of the bed so he could see her face. He didn’t want to push her away or make her feel force to stay in here with him, he just wanted to comfort her to the best of his ability. He had a feeling that those pills were much more important than she led on, but he knew she made her point and there was no use in arguing. They just had to make due. |
Jason’s face changed from serious to laughing in two seconds flat. He hated how easy it was for her to do that to him. “Brat,” he teased. He thought over what he was going to say, she was so quick to make everything a funny he started to rethink if this was really a good time. “Nevermind, I forgot” he lied, “I guess it wasn’t that important.” He said with a shrug. “I’m beat.” He announced rubbing his hands over his face. “Aren’t you ready to get some real sleep?” He couldn’t imagine how tired she was. “You can sleep in here, if you’d want.” He offered plainly but sincerely. |
Jason chuckled, “Well, um, thanks for that?” he mumbled smiling back at her. He’d watched enough chick flicks to know it was going to get really mushy between them from him on out. Part of him wasn’t bothered by that, but another part of him wanted to gag because of how awful some romance movies turned out. He wouldn’t allow whatever was between them to get overly lame. He listened to her and let out a soft sigh. Jason felt the weird butterflies rising up from his stomach, moving their way through his lungs and he knew they’d fly out as he spoke. God, since when did he get so emotional and retarded over shit. “I shouldn’t have came on so strong,” he muttered back still keeping his gaze on her face even though she refused to meet it. He wanted to finally tell her how he felt, was it really a good time though? Should he wait? Should he tell her at all? He didn’t want to push things on her all at once, especially with everything that was happening. “Can I tell you something?” He asked her softly. |
Jason couldn’t help but chuckle. “You’re something else.” He muttered to himself softly, a smile pulling at his lips. He felt her move, he turned his head to look at her and was taken back a little by how close she was to him. “Hi” he echoed with a grin, the grin grew after she placed her lips to his cheek. “For?” He asked slightly confused by the sudden show of affection. She was an emotional roller coaster. Jason couldn’t tell if he’d be sick when he got off or want to go again, maybe that was the point of the thrill of it all. |
Jason let out a frustrated sigh. “You’re the freaking worst.” He scoffed throwing himself back on the bed. She was right, it was way too risky. What if she was lying and those meds were actually extremely important. He didn’t know what to do, it felt like more than just meds at stake here. “Damn it” he muttered softly realizing his defeat. He looked over to her before sighing again. “I guess we’ll go to the next town over to get you what you need tomorrow…” He looked back at the ceiling. “Why don’t you sleep?” He asked watching the ceiling fan spin around. |
Jason furrowed his eyebrows together. “Sure you would.” He shot back sarcastically. “Boohoo” he mocked a crying face, “you’re stuck wearing big slightly uncomfy man clothes for a whole 24 hours.” He gave her a serious look as he thought over her suggestion. “I’d rather you have your meds…” He said smoothly. He loved Allison to death, but he didn’t think he could take any more of her emotional outburst. He expected enough as it was with the situation at hand, he had hope that the meds might at least take an edge off. “I’m sure it’ll be easy to pull off.” He assured her. “What kind of meds are they, anyways?” |
Jason chuckled and shook his head. “Uh no,” he smirked “I’ll say my parents are coming into town… or something.” He shrugged, that wasn’t the point. “I don’t really have to give them a reason, I just have to say personal matters.” He rolled her eyes, “I thought girls stopped believing in cooties when they were like… eight.” He laughed, “It’s not so bad when you have something to fill it with.” He grinned. Do you need some bras too?” There was no way in hell he’d be able to remember all this with his mind racing while he broke into her house. “Just write it all down. I’ll forget if you don’t.” |
Jason did his best to follow what she was saying. He nodded hoping he understood it all correctly. “I’ll have to call into work…” he murmured thinking aloud. He paused to think everything over “Maybe I should take off til further notice.” He chuckled, “This is going to be fun.” He looked down at her watching her for a moment before he spoke again. “I’ll do it tomorrow morning.” He told her. “You sleepy?” he asked, knowing her answer but asked anyways. He snatched a half drunk bottle of water from his bedside table. “Drink!” He demanded tossing it closer to her. |
